Now waiting is over for these two facilities in Delhi's AIIMS, patients will get the benefit of the facility

In the meeting with the Union Health Minister, the issue of starting Sunday's OPD in AIIMS was also raised.

New Delhi, State Bureau. Initiatives have been taken to improve the medical system in the country's largest medical institute AIIMS. So that the problem of waiting in treatment can be overcome. In this sequence, in view of the strict instructions of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the waiting for blood test and X-ray test ended. X-ray examination is being done on walk-in basis. Now there is no need to take the date for this.

The facility of ultrasound for elderly, disabled and serious patients has also been started on the day of treatment in OPD. Steps are also being taken to eliminate waiting for CT scan and MRI test, but the doctors of the institute are not liking the suggestion to start Sunday OPD in AIIMS on the lines of other big hospitals of the center located in Delhi. Recently, in the meeting of Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya with the Heads of Departments of AIIMS, there was a discussion on starting OPD on Sunday. Some doctors also agree on this, but doctors of most departments are not in favor of starting Sunday OPD. Therefore, at present there is no preparation in AIIMS to start OPD on Sunday.

The doctors of the institute say that the main objective of AIIMS is not only the treatment of patients, but also medical education and research work. Apart from this, most patients suffering from serious diseases reach AIIMS for treatment. Still there is a lot of pressure in OPD. Most of the patients treated in OPD require hospitalization and many patients need to undergo surgery or any procedure.

Despite running OPD six days a week, not every needy patient is able to get a bed in the hospital and despite having more than two lakh surgeries and procedures every year, there is a long waiting for the operation. In such a situation, running an additional OPD on Sunday will not be of much use. Apart from this, there will be additional burden on the resident doctors and research work will be affected.

It is noteworthy that OPDs of eight departments at Safdarjung, RML and Lady Hardinge Medical College, Sucheta Kriplani Hospital and Kalavati Saran Children's Hospital, also run on Sundays. It includes the departments of Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatric, Gynecology, Orthopedics,

Ophthalmology, ENT and Urology. After this, the Cardiac Center of AIIMS took the initiative and started a special clinic on Sunday, in which follow-up check-up of old patients who have undergone heart surgery is done.
